与我们的饮食生活息息相关的拖把，也是家中藏污纳垢最多的地方。专家提醒，家庭使用的拖把若不注意消毒，不但达不到清洁地面的目的，反而会造成更大范围的污染，尤其是在密闭的空调室内，更易造成细菌的扩散。
珠江医院皮肤科主任张堂德介绍，反复使用的拖把，因经常处于潮湿的环境中，最适合细菌等微生物的生长了。主要有以下几类，
1、霉菌真菌念珠菌等微生物。这些微生物能在温暖潮湿环境中迅速繁殖，其中一些会引起恶心、呕吐、腹痛等，严重时会导致呼吸道及肠道疾病。
2、尘螨。尘螨是引起过敏性疾病的罪魁祸首之一。如果用这样的拖把拖地，这些细菌和微生物就会随着拖布的四处活动，而到处传播细菌。如果身体皮肤接触到这些细菌，很容易引起湿疹等过敏性皮炎，张主任介绍，在日常门诊中，他们会经常碰到这样的患者，其主要表现是身上有一些黄豆大小的不明原因的红点，感觉特别痒等，这很可能就是皮肤受到了细菌感染，需要及时进行处理。而这些患者大多为一些家庭妇女。张主任提醒，一些家庭主妇为了把地拖得干净一些，就用手把拖把拧干，殊不知这样正好感染了细菌，过敏性体质的人，就很容易得皮肤病。
张主任介绍说，家用拖把最好能做到定期消毒。最好的消毒方式，如果房子比较通风，气候又比较干燥的时候，用过的拖把，只要把它用清水洗干净，然后把它放在阳光下暴晒一段时间，保持干燥。其次，用普通的消毒水消毒，如来苏水，高锰酸钾液和漂白粉等。使用1％~5％来苏水溶液，浸泡消毒30分钟左右，其次，使用5％~10％漂白粉澄清液，浸泡30分钟~60分钟，就可以达到消毒的效果。另外，在拖地时，这样可以用低浓度的高锰酸钾和漂白粉洒在地上，这样可以杀死大部分细菌。家庭消毒一定不能贪多，一些人生怕消毒效果不好，就特意把消毒水的分量加大，其气味在家中很不容易散去，会造成另一种污染。
